What to do if... β a troubleshooting guide
This lesson turns you into a cool-headed operator
For every commonly occurring situation there's a clear action plan. Once you've read this guide, in a crisis you'll have a checklist instead of panic β you just follow the steps. Read it calmly now, use it when you need it.
π I lost or don't have my seed phrase
Is the wallet still working (on your phone/browser)?
YES β you can still recover:
- IMMEDIATELY move all your tokens to a NEW wallet with a NEW seed phrase
- Create a new Jupiter WalletJupiter WalletThe main Solana wallet used in this course. Holds SOL, USDC and SPL tokens, with a built-in swap feature. MetaMask is used for the Ethereum side.Read the lesson β (SolanaSolanaA fast blockchain (under 1s, gas under $0.01). Home to the Kamino, Orca and Meteora ecosystem.Read the lesson β) or MetaMaskMetaMaskAn Ethereum/EVM wallet. Used with Aave, Uniswap and Arbitrum.Read the lesson β (EthereumEthereumA blockchain with smart contracts. We use Aave (lending) and Uniswap (LP) on it.Read the lesson β) wallet β write down the 12 words
- Send all your crypto from the old wallet to the new one
- Once everything's moved β write down the new seed phrase on paper
- The old wallet can stay empty
NO β you've lost access:
- If you have neither the seed phrase nor access to the wallet β the funds are lost
- There's no way to recover them β that's the price of decentralization
- Nobody can "unlock" your wallet β not Jupiter WalletJupiter WalletThe main Solana wallet used in this course. Holds SOL, USDC and SPL tokens, with a built-in swap feature. MetaMask is used for the Ethereum side.Read the lesson β, not MetaMaskMetaMaskAn Ethereum/EVM wallet. Used with Aave, Uniswap and Arbitrum.Read the lesson β, not the SolanaSolanaA fast blockchain (under 1s, gas under $0.01). Home to the Kamino, Orca and Meteora ecosystem.Read the lesson β network, not anyone
Master these 4 habits and your seed phrase will never go missing
- Write the seed phrase down ON PAPER (not on your phone, not in the cloud)
- Keep it somewhere safe (a safe, or with someone you trust)
- Make 2 copies in different places
- NEVER photograph it or save it in digital form
β I sent crypto to the wrong address
SOL sent to an Ethereum address (or vice versa)
- The funds are lost. SolanaSolanaA fast blockchain (under 1s, gas under $0.01). Home to the Kamino, Orca and Meteora ecosystem.Read the lesson β and EthereumEthereumA blockchain with smart contracts. We use Aave (lending) and Uniswap (LP) on it.Read the lesson β are completely separate networks
- There's no way to get them back β it's like mailing a letter to an address that doesn't exist
- Prevention: always check the address format:
- SolanaSolanaA fast blockchain (under 1s, gas under $0.01). Home to the Kamino, Orca and Meteora ecosystem.Read the lesson β: starts with letters/numbers, ~44 characters (e.g.,

Sent on the wrong network (e.g., ETH via BSC)
- Sometimes recoverable! If the recipient controls the address on the other network
- If you sent to a CEXCEXCentralized Exchange β a centralized exchange (e.g. Nexo, Kraken, Binance). Requires KYC.Read the lesson β (NexoNexoA centralized exchange (CEX) for buying crypto with euros. Custodial β the exchange holds the keys.Read the lesson β, Kraken) β contact support with the transaction hash (the transaction's unique identifier)
- If you sent to another wallet β the recipient can switch networks and see the tokens
Sent to the wrong person / address
- Lost. BlockchainBlockchainA public digital ledger maintained by many computers, which cannot be secretly altered.Read the lesson β transactions are irreversible
- Prevention: ALWAYS test the first transfer with a small amount ($1-5)
β³ My transaction has been "pending" for an hour
Solana (rarely happens)
SolanaSolanaA fast blockchain (under 1s, gas under $0.01). Home to the Kamino, Orca and Meteora ecosystem.Read the lesson β transactions confirm within 1-2 seconds. If it's "pending" longer than that:
- Try again (SolanaSolanaA fast blockchain (under 1s, gas under $0.01). Home to the Kamino, Orca and Meteora ecosystem.Read the lesson β sometimes rejects transactions due to network congestion)
- Check solscan.io to see if the transaction went through
- If not β try again with a higher priority fee
Ethereum (happens more often)
- Check etherscan.io with the transaction hash
- If it's "pending" β the gas fee was too low. Wait, or "speed up" via MetaMaskMetaMaskAn Ethereum/EVM wallet. Used with Aave, Uniswap and Arbitrum.Read the lesson β
- MetaMaskMetaMaskAn Ethereum/EVM wallet. Used with Aave, Uniswap and Arbitrum.Read the lesson β β click the pending transaction β "Speed Up" β pay a higher gas fee
- If that doesn't work β "Cancel" via MetaMaskMetaMaskAn Ethereum/EVM wallet. Used with Aave, Uniswap and Arbitrum.Read the lesson β and try again with higher gas
π¦ My bank is blocking a transfer to a crypto exchange
Why does it block it?
Some Lithuanian banks automatically block transfers to crypto exchanges' IBANs as "risky":
What to do
- Call your bank β explain that you're transferring to a licensed crypto platform
- Give the exact name: "NexoNexoA centralized exchange (CEX) for buying crypto with euros. Custodial β the exchange holds the keys.Read the lesson β β an EU-regulated platform", "Kraken β a US-regulated platform"
- If they refuse:
- Revolut almost never blocks crypto transfers
- N26 is friendly too
- Paysera supports crypto transfers
- Buying crypto is legal β but under AMLAMLAnti-Money Laundering β procedures used by banks and exchanges to combat money laundering.Read the lesson β procedures the bank may temporarily hold the transfer and ask for an explanation. Usually the transfer goes through once you've explained
Banks that block most often
Rarely blocks: Revolut, N26, Paysera
Sometimes blocks: SEB, Swedbank
Blocks more often: Luminor, smaller banks
This can change β banks constantly update their policies. (This reflects Lithuanian banks specifically β if you bank elsewhere, check your own bank's policy on crypto transfers.)
π I forgot my Nexo/Kraken password
Nexo
- On the login page, click "Forgot password"
- Enter your registration email β you'll get a link to reset your password
- Create a new password β log in
- If you don't have access to that email β contact NexoNexoA centralized exchange (CEX) for buying crypto with euros. Custodial β the exchange holds the keys.Read the lesson β support (can take 1-7 days)
Kraken
- "Forgot password" β email + 2FA2FATwo-factor authentication (password plus a code from an app). Use an app, not SMS.Read the lesson β code
- If you lost your 2FA2FATwo-factor authentication (password plus a code from an app). Use an app, not SMS.Read the lesson β (phone gone) β contact support with ID documents
- Kraken Master Key (if you set it up at registration) can help you recover
Prevention
- Use a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password)
- Save your 2FA backup codes at registration (not just on your phone)
- Kraken Master Key β always set it up and store it like a seed phrase
πΈ Not enough SOL/ETH for gas fees
The problem
You have $5,000 USDCUSDCA USD stablecoin issued by Circle. Regulated, audited monthly. Our primary stablecoin and loan asset in the Kamino/Aave strategies.Read the lesson β in KaminoKaminoSolana lending protocol. In our strategy: SOL collateral to a USDC loan.Read the lesson β, but 0 SOLSOLSolana's native token. Used to pay gas and as collateral.Read the lesson β in your wallet. You can't withdraw because you need SOLSOLSolana's native token. Used to pay gas and as collateral.Read the lesson β for gas.
Solution (Solana)
- Nexo/Kraken: buy 0.1 SOLSOLSolana's native token. Used to pay gas and as collateral.Read the lesson β (~$15) and send it to Jupiter WalletJupiter WalletThe main Solana wallet used in this course. Holds SOL, USDC and SPL tokens, with a built-in swap feature. MetaMask is used for the Ethereum side.Read the lesson β
- Jupiter: if you hold any SolanaSolanaA fast blockchain (under 1s, gas under $0.01). Home to the Kamino, Orca and Meteora ecosystem.Read the lesson β token, swap a small part of it for SOLSOLSolana's native token. Used to pay gas and as collateral.Read the lesson β
- A friend: ask them to send 0.05 SOLSOLSolana's native token. Used to pay gas and as collateral.Read the lesson β (if you trust them)
- Prevention: always keep at least 0.05 SOLSOLSolana's native token. Used to pay gas and as collateral.Read the lesson β in your wallet as a gas buffer
Solution (Ethereum)
- Buy ETH via Kraken/Nexo and send it to MetaMaskMetaMaskAn Ethereum/EVM wallet. Used with Aave, Uniswap and Arbitrum.Read the lesson β
- Minimum: 0.01 ETH (~$25-30) β a mainnet operation now costs cents (a transfer ~$0.01, a DeFiDeFiDecentralized Finance β financial services without intermediaries, operating through smart contracts.Read the lesson β operation ~$0.03-0.30), so a reserve like that will last a long time. Fees rise temporarily during congestion β check etherscan.io/gastracker before a bigger operation
- Arbitrum: if your positions are on ArbitrumArbitrumAn Ethereum Layer 2 network. Cheaper and faster transactions than Ethereum mainnet.Read the lesson β, fees are even lower (<$0.01-0.05) and stay steady even when mainnet is congested
π§ I got an email "from Nexo/Jupiter/Deribit"
You'll spot it instantly β 99% chance it's phishing (a fake link or site)
Rules for checking:
- Never click links in emails about "security issues" or "account blocked"
- Check the sender's address: the real NexoNexoA centralized exchange (CEX) for buying crypto with euros. Custodial β the exchange holds the keys.Read the lesson β sender is
@nexo.com, not@nexo-security.com - Go straight to the website: open your browser and type
nexo.commanually - If it urges you to act quickly β that's almost always a scam
- Jupiter Wallet/MetaMask never send emails β they don't have your email address
π± Phone stolen / lost
If you had Jupiter Wallet / MetaMask on your phone
- Do you have the seed phrase? β Install the wallet on a new phone β restore with the seed phrase β for safety, move the funds to a NEW wallet with a new seed phrase (the old key was on the stolen phone)
- No seed phrase? β If the wallet only existed on the phone and you don't have the seed β the funds are lost
If you had Nexo / Kraken on your phone
- Don't worry β a CEXCEXCentralized Exchange β a centralized exchange (e.g. Nexo, Kraken, Binance). Requires KYC.Read the lesson β account is protected by a password and 2FA2FATwo-factor authentication (password plus a code from an app). Use an app, not SMS.Read the lesson β
- Log in on your new phone with your email/password
- Remotely wipe the old phone (Find My iPhone / Find My Device)
- Change your password from the new phone

Keeping this table in mind, you can face any of these situations calmly β you know both how to avoid them and what to do if they happen anyway.
In a crisis, panic does the thinking β not you. A plan written calmly now can be worth thousands during a crisis. Takes about 15 minutes.
Never write the seed phrase itself, passwords, or 2FA codes in the plan β only actions and links.
This is learning, not investing β use only small amounts you treat as tuition.
You just put together your own personal crisis plan β something most crypto users never do, leaving them to rely on panic in a crisis.
